What is Male Liposuction?
Both men and women can undergo liposuction to achieve a variety of different goals. Whether you wish to look better in a swimsuit, wish your clothing fit more comfortably, or are seeking an improved body image, liposuction may be a beneficial choice.
Male liposuction is a body sculpting procedure to remove excess deposits of body fat. This procedure can be used on virtually any area of the body but is most commonly used to sculpt the abdomen, chest, love handles, hips, and thighs.
At Modern Surgical Arts, we offer several different liposuction techniques to address each of our patient’s individual goals.
Tumescent Liposuction
The most common type of liposuction, Tumescent liposuction, involves injecting a sterile solution of saline, lidocaine, and epinephrine into the treatment area. This solution allows for the fat to be suctioned away more easily while reducing blood loss and discomfort.
Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (UAL)
UAL uses ultrasound energy to break apart fatty tissues, loosening them from the body. This allows for easier removal of larger areas of fat.
Laser-Assisted Liposuction (SmartLipo)
Laser-assisted liposuction is known under the names SmartLipo and Slimlipo. It involves using laser energy to help loosen fat cells for easier removal.
Power-Assisted Liposuction
The technique uses a cannula that rapidly moves back and forth to allow for more efficient fat removal. Because this technique allows the surgeon to remove fat more quickly, it may result in less pain and swelling.
Candidates for Male Liposuction
Men who are bored by stubborn pockets of fat, despite a healthy lifestyle that involves a balanced diet and regular exercise, may be able to benefit from male liposuction. While liposuction is known as a fat removal procedure, it is important to understand that it is not a weight loss procedure; candidates should be near their ideal body weight prior to this procedure. For more information regarding male liposuction candidacy, please contact us today to schedule a consultation.
The Male Liposuction Procedure
Male liposuction can be performed with intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. During the procedure, a small incision is created in the treatment area. A thin, hollow tube called a cannula is then inserted through this incision to loosen the fat, which is suctioned out of the body.
Male Liposuction Results and Recovery
Following male liposuction, dressings or bandages will be applied to the incisions. A support garment may need to be worn to minimize swelling and support the new body contours. Patients may be able to return to work after 2-3 weeks, depending on their job.
Patients can enjoy a noticeable improvement in their body contour once swelling and fluid resolve. Our team will provide you with specific aftercare instructions to help ensure proper healing and optimal outcomes.
