All too often, patients come to our offices saying “I want to look younger” or “I want a fresher, more youthful look” but are unsure of how to accomplish that goal. There are a variety of treatment options on the market, some more appropriate for specific skin types or results than others. In order to provide an individualized result, we conduct thorough consultations with each client. We provide information about the products and techniques you are interested in, and possibly even suggest some medical spa services that you might not know about.
Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a quick and pain free skin resurfacing treatment that removes unwanted facial hair and dead skin cells, to reveal smoother skin. This procedure is affordable and provides instant and dramatic results, brightening the skin’s surface by exfoliating away the outer layers. The facial treatment can even target fine lines, deep acne scars, skin texture, uneven skin tone, age spots, and dry, rough patches. It can also be easily combined with treatments like laser resurfacing to boost results.
BEFORE
- Arrive for your procedure on time and with a clean face.
- For best results, please discontinue use of any exfoliating cleansers or scrubs 3 – 5 days before treatment
- Avoid direct UV sunlight or exposure for 5 – 7 days before treatment
- Schedule any other facial treatments 1 – 2 weeks before service
- Reschedule your appointment if you have acne lesions or open wounds
DURING
The process involves gently swiping a blade across the skin to remove unwanted vellus hairs, or peach fuzz, and dead skin cells. This is a great painless way to rejuvenate and resurface the skin. It immediately reveals smoother skin and exfoliates away skin imperfections.
AFTER
Your skin will look brighter almost immediately after your procedure. You will likely experience some redness for 2 – 3 days. Patients should also avoid direct sun exposure. Sun damage reverses the effects of dermaplaning, so wearing SPF 30+ daily will maintain your investment. Dermaplaning treatments, under most circumstances, should be done every 4 weeks.

BEFORE
It is best that you arrive for your treatment on time and with a cleansed face without makeup. If you are unable to do so, don’t worry – just let your aesthetician know and they will double cleanse for your procedure. You’ll have consultation time to speak to your aesthetician about your skin concerns and skincare journey. This is a great time to ask any questions about the treatment process and proper skin care practices.
DURING
Most facials include cleansing, exfoliation, steaming, extractions, product application, and facial massage. These steps can vary depending on the treatment you choose. Feel free to ask your aesthetician questions at any point throughout the process, or enjoy your relaxing time in silence.
AFTER
Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated and help flush out toxins. Try not to touch your face or other treated areas, as this can introduce unwanted bacteria to your freshly cleaned skin. Your skin may also be sensitive, so a hands-off approach is best. Avoid makeup for at least the rest of the day – applying makeup right after a facial is not ideal and may clog your recently deep-cleaned pores. Wait at least 2-3 days to use toners, exfoliants, retinol, vitamin C, or acne treatments. Stay out of direct sunlight and avoid heat. As always, wear SPF 30+ daily.
PRP Microneedling
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) microneedling can be done as a stand-alone treatment to produce even more stunning results. Using your body’s own regenerative properties allows for incredible benefits, including firmer skin and the reduction of skin irregularities like fine lines, wrinkles, redness, dark spots, and acne scars.
We use plasma because it’s rich in platelets, growth factors, and other nutrients that stimulate collagen production and the renewal of healthy skin cells. Collagen plays a key role in the health and appearance of our skin — and PRP helps by stimulating collagen production and improving tone and elasticity in the skin. When used in the face, PRP brings back that tighter, smaller-pore “glow” that we all want.
Our PRP microneedling treatment is perfect for clients looking for more intensive results. Stem cells are literally changing the face of regenerative medicine, and it’s no different for skin. These reparative cells signal dormant cells to wake up, and the results are like turning back the clock.
BEFORE
During a consultation, your specialist will review your medical history. PRP treatments aren’t recommended for patients with certain blood or bleeding conditions. Arrive at your appointment with clean, make-up free skin.
DURING
We use a topical numbing agent to reduce any pain and there’s less downtime than with chemical peels. PRP microneedling involves taking a sample of your blood, extracting the rich plasma, the fountain of youth, then needling it back into your face. Sounds a bit scary, we know, but it’s actually less intimidating and painful than you think.
AFTER
It’s normal to have some slight swelling and irritation afterward, but these side effects typically subside within a day or two. Make sure to keep your skin protected with SPF 30+ every day and avoid harsh products like exfoliants, retinols, and vitamin C until your skin is recovered.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are one of the most valuable tools we have for achieving more even skin tone, reversing aging skin, minimizing acne scars, and exfoliating away damaged skin cells. It works by applying a personalized chemical solution to the skin, which will exfoliate the skin cells and cause the top layer of skin to peel. This process reveals new skin cells in the deeper layers. The depth of your chemical peel can be personalized to your needs.
BEFORE
Chemical peels are done in our medical spa as an outpatient procedure. Our aesthetician will consult with you to determine the best type of peel for your skin.
DURING
During a chemical peel, the skin is cleansed and the solution is applied, which may cause a brief stinging sensation. Depending on type of peel, application takes no more than 30 minutes.
AFTER
Side effects may vary depending on the chemical peel and usually don’t last longer than a week. Common short-term side effects include redness, irritation, swelling and stinging. Avoid any treatments like dermal fillers or Botox for the next two weeks.
