Vaser Advanced Liposuction

At Modern Surgical Arts of Denver, our patients (both women and men) benefit from the different options for liposuction and body contouring because we combine the most recent techniques and medical devices to achieve the best aesthetic results.

One of the proven medical devices we use during advanced liposuction and sculpting is called VASER (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance), which “selectively” removes fat deposits and alters the shape and contours of the body.

Traditional Liposuction

Liposuction in its simplest form is a cosmetic procedure that removes fat deposits from under your skin. Traditional liposuction used to involve removal of fat from major areas of concern such as the abdomen, waist and thighs in order to reduce the circumference of the patient’s trouble area. In the 1980s and 1990s pioneers developed liposuction techniques that could be performed in a predictable and safe manner in an outpatient setting.

Over the next decade, liposuction evolved into the idea of “body-sculpting”.  Surgeons were not only removing fat but they were also developing the underlying anatomy of the patient’s figure. Many surgeons from around the world contributed to develop and advance the techniques in body-sculpting with liposuction. Since the early 2000’s several medical devices have been combined with these liposuction techniques in order to achieve improved results.

Modern techniques in body contouring involve combining several concepts such as removal of fat deposits from different layers under the skin, strategic fat removal for defining the muscle anatomy and promoting skin tightening in the area of treatment.

This philosophy treats the area of concern in a comprehensive fashion.

VASER Liposuction highlights:

  1. Ability to remove high volumes of fat with less blood loss
  2. Removal of superficial fat droplets closer to the skin, revealing more body definition
  3. Stimulation of the underlying skin dermis, resulting in potential skin tightening
  4. Useful in cases for revision liposuction or coolsculpting with areas of fibrous tissue or scarring

VASER is not intended as a weight loss solution, but rather is used to contour the body. It is ideal for people who are trying to spot-treat fat deposits and reveal muscle tone underneath. It can be performed on many parts of the body.

The VASER Liposuction Difference

All liposuction techniques operate on the same basic premise: fat deposits are broken apart and removed from the body via suction. But VASER liposuction allows the surgeon to be both gentler and more precise, which allows the fat to be removed without damaging other adjacent tissues. Dr. Dastoury has extensive training in this advanced technique. He has a reputation for body sculpting using VASER liposuction to correct revision cases or irregular scarring caused by coolsculpting devices.

Advantages of VASER Liposuction

VASER liposuction is often preferable to other liposuction techniques because it causes less pain, swelling, and downtime than the traditional technique, which uses manual movements to break up fat deposits and can result in more bruising.

Another benefit of VASER liposuction is that the fat cells that are removed can be harvested and transferred anywhere in the body to provide volume enhancement. Dr. Dastoury has transferred fat stem cells into the face (for facial rejuvenation) or gluteal region (for buttock augmentation commonly known as the BBL procedure).

VASER Liposuction Considerations

Some of the drawbacks of VASER include swelling that can last for up to 3-6 months, and you may not see the final results you want until the swelling subsides. Also, a compression garment is necessary while you recover, which has to be worn for 4-6 weeks. Finally, as with all liposuction techniques, if you gain weight after your procedure, the fat cells that remain can expand. So keeping up your diet and exercise routine is very important.
