What is Male Otoplasty?

Patients should have fully formed ears, which are generally around 5 years or older when a boy’s ear cartilage is stable enough for correction. The Male Otoplasty Procedure
Male otoplasty surgery can be performed with sedation and local anesthesia or general anesthesia. The anesthesia that is best for your procedure can be discussed during a consultation.
Because otoplasty is a highly personalized procedure, the surgical technique used will ultimately depend on the issue being treated and the desired results. Excess skin and cartilage can be manipulated or removed through incisions on the back of or within the creases of the ears. Sutures will be used to close the incisions. The length of the procedure may vary from patient to patient.
Male Otoplasty Results and Recovery
Following male ear surgery, bandages will be placed on the ears. Any discomfort can be controlled with over-the-counter pain medication. Bandages should be left on until your surgeon removes them, as removing them too early may negatively alter results. We will provide you with specific instructions on how to keep your ears clean and protected from trauma while healing.
