Board Certified Surgeons
Our cosmetic plastic surgeons Dr. Zwiebel and Dr. Dastoury are board certified.
Dr. Zwiebel is board certified through the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS).
Dr. Dastoury is double board certified through the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS) and secondly the American Board of Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS).
Dr. Dastoury also has extensive training in conscious sedation and general anesthesia. He holds certification in general anesthesia in the state of Colorado and California.
Patients seek out a doctor who is board certified within the field in which they are practicing. This is why our patients can rest assured that their surgeons are properly trained and experienced in plastic or cosmetic surgery respectively. Board certification to us means a level of prestige, dedication to education, training, and certification.
What’s the difference between a cosmetic surgeon and a plastic surgeon?
At Modern Surgical Arts of Denver – our patients have pain management options that cannot be achieved without a medical doctor. Modern Surgical Arts offers different modalities of pain management ranging from nerve blocks for accurately numbing, anti-anxiety medications, IV sedation, and compounded and highly effective numbing cream.
Morpheus8 has the capability to go up to 8mm for the most effective and dramatic results for the body. However, the only providers who have the capabilities to go that deep on patients are medical doctors and surgeons. At Modern Surgical Arts, we have the possibility to produce the most dramatic and results driven treatment plan.
Please refer to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery site for more details on Cosmetic vs Plastic surgery.
Where will my surgery take place?
At Modern Surgical Arts of Denver we make the experience as safe and convenient as possible for our patients by offering treatment at the same location as the consult, surgery, and post-op visits. Our patients can look forward to being treated at our up-to date facility, which is an accredited outpatient ambulatory surgery center certified through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
Our center is also affiliated with our nearby local private hospital. AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery facilities must meet stringent national standards for equipment, operating room safety, personnel and surgeon credentials. This accrediting program provides patients with an assurance of safety and quality in all aspects of an outpatient surgery experience.
Does my surgeon have hospital privileges and how does it contribute to my care?
Yes, both Dr. Zwiebel and Dr. Dastoury have hospital privileges at a nearby hospital for all of the procedures they provide at our outpatient ambulatory surgery center. Our surgeons provide continuity of care for all of our patients to the best of their ability from the initial consultation, to surgery, to treating potential complications.
Having hospital privileges is an essential resource for our surgeons. As with any surgery, managing potential complications is an essential part of the treatment process when necessary. Cosmetic surgery is an elective procedure and safety is our number one priority and we want to have all of the resources available to provide the best care for our patients.
Who will be responsible for anesthesia during my procedure?
Our patients are comforted by knowing their anesthesia services are provided by a dedicated and experienced licensed anesthesia provider. Our Certified Anesthetists have extensive experience in the Denver area within the hospital and outpatient settings. The team at Front Range Anesthesia has built its practice around delivering safe high quality and evidence-based anesthesia care.
Our patients have a designated licensed anesthetist and given ample time before the day of surgery to discuss any questions or concerns. This enables each of our surgery patients to have individualized anesthesia care that will best suit their needs.
Our medical director Kamran Dastoury, MD has extensive training and certification in anesthesia, which also provides an added layer of supervision and safety for the overall care of our surgical patients.
How do the surgeons and staff respond to all patients’ concerns to make them feel comfortable?
Our surgeons and providers are available for comprehensive consultations focusing on the patient’s area of concern. We provide telehealth (Video or Phone) consultations from the comfort of your home. We are available for complementary follow up for secondary consults as needed for any questions or concerns that may arise. We have patient testimonials and reviews online so potential patients can relate to our existing patients’ experiences. Also, our surgeons are readily available for questions and concerns regarding post op care for our patients 7 days per week.
